What did you hear about the black cop who shot an unarmed, deaf, white man? Crickets

Did you hear about the North Carolina state trooper who shot and unarmed deaf man on Thursday.

Chances are that you did not, and there’s a good reason for it.

There were no protests, no riots, no speech from President Obama, no marathon on CNN talking about the “problem of police violence” and no prosecutor telling the community they “heard your calls for, ‘no justice, no peace.'”

You see, Trooper Jermaine Saunders is black, and the man he shot, 29-year-old Daniel Kevin Harris, was white. He was also deaf and could not speak.

It doesn’t fit the narrative the mainstream media has been promoting for years — that evil white cops were driving around hunting for unarmed black men.

The incident took place last Thursday in Charlotte after authorities said Harris led Saunders on a brief chase after he tried to pull him over for speeding, WCNC reported.

When Harris arrived at his home with Saunders behind him, he got out of his car and, according to witnesses, began trying to communicate with the trooper using sign language.

But witnesses said Saunders shot Harris “almost immediately” when Harris got our of the vehicle.

Saunders contended that he shot Harris because he was not following commands and was advancing towards him.

Of course Harris couldn’t hear the commands, but there was no way for the trooper to know that.

“He was unarmed — and he is a deaf individual, and I think that he was just afraid,” Harris’ brother, Jay Harris told the media.

“He could not hear their warnings. He could not hear their commands to stop or to stay away from them,” he said, adding that his mother has been in the hospital with a heart condition since the shooting.

The incident is being reviewed.

This isn’t an indictment of the officer involved in the shooting. It is an indictment of the blatant bias of the media.

The shooting has been reported by some major media outlets. And while Black Lives Matter activist and New York Daily News columnist Shaun King  sided against the trooper, it was not a front and center story.

And there was one more thing missing.

From every report we’ve seen from all the major media outlets, not one has mentioned the race of the officer or the man who was shot.

The hypocrisy was noticed by many on social media.
