It really isn’t that odd for gal pals to spend some quality down time together, even if it is Ivanka Trump and Wendi Deng, the former wife of Rupert Murdoch.
News outlets around the globe went for the stretch this week connecting the two, and even speculating that Deng is the girlfriend of Russian President Vladimir Putin, something Vanity Fair says has not been confirmed.
Here’s what happened:
Ivanka, the 34-year-old mother of three and daughter of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, is on vacation this week with her husband Jared Kushner aboard a yacht owned by David Geffen, a Democrat supporter of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sander, the Daily Mail reported. Ivanka and Jared were spotted jet skiing in Croatia last Friday, and then sightseeing in Dubrovnik, a swanky city in southern Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. Along for the tour were Deng, Brian Grazier and his wife Veronica.
So, back to Ivanka and Wendi:
Vanity Fair reported that “Deng and Ivanka have a long history together.”
“In fact, Deng is reportedly responsible for re-uniting Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, who broke up in 2008 when their religious differences caused them to split. A new New Yorker profile of the couple relays how Deng invited Jared for a weekend on the Murdoch family yacht. ‘You’re working so hard. Come with Rupert and me on the boat for the weekend,’ she said. He showed up without knowing that Deng had also invited Ivanka. Trump later converted to Judaism, and the couple married in 2009.”
Of course, none of that seems to matters when your dad is running for president of the United States and your BFF has been connected with the president of Russian. Forget the fact that Ivanka is a successful businesswoman in her own right, or that she brought the house down July 21 during her speech before the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
