President Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention set the hearts fluttering among the liberal media.
Though the political fawning was not surprising at MSNBC, reporter Andrea Mitchell unashamedly compared Obama’s speech writing to that of President Lincoln.
The president was “extraordinary in invoking the framer’s thoughts to form a more perfect union, the most optimistic speech, the most generous speech,” Mitchell gushed after Obama’s speech Wednesday. “Politically, having covered the campaign eight years ago, I could have never imagined this kind of embrace of Hillary Clinton.”
Mitchell then took it to another level.
“His gift is unique,” she said. “I don’t think we’ve ever had a president, save Lincoln, who is as great a speechwriter as this man.”
MSNBC political analyst Steve Schmidt was also on board the praise train, calling Obama’s speech “one of the most extraordinary political speeches ever given by anyone at any time.”
