Justice Ginsburg doubles down, Trump responds with shot to jugular – biggest insult you can give a judge

“Her mind is shot – resign!” Donald Trump went right in for the kill.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg isn’t backing down from her earlier harsh criticism of the Republican presumptive nominee. In fact, she’s doubling down.

During a previously scheduled interview with CNN Legal Analyst and Supreme Court Biographer Joan Biskupic about a book she’s writing on Chief Justice John Roberts, Ginsburg clearly couldn’t get Trump out from under her skin.

“He is a faker,” she said when the conversation detoured to Trump and her earlier criticism. “He has no consistency about him. He says whatever comes into his head at the moment. He really has an ego. … How has he gotten away with not turning over his tax returns? The press seems to be very gentle with him on that.”

“At first I thought [Trump’s early candidacy] was funny,” Ginsburg said. “To think that there’s a possibility that he could be president … ”

Astonishingly, Ginsburg thinks the media has been tougher on Hillary Clinton than they have on Trump. “I think he has gotten so much free publicity. Every other presidential candidate has turned over tax returns.”

Responding to Ginsburg’s reference to Trump’s tax returns, Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks said, “As you know, Mr. Trump is undergoing a routine audit and plans to release his returns when completed. No further comment.”

Donald Trump himself responded to Ginsburg’s criticisms by telling the The New York Times, “I think it’s highly inappropriate that a United States Supreme Court judge gets involved in a political campaign, frankly. I think it’s a disgrace to the court and I think she should apologize to the court. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.”

“That she should be saying that?” Trump continued. “It’s so beneath the court for her to be making statements like that. It only energizes my base even more. And I would hope that she would get off the court as soon as possible.”

We can also hope that Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton, will be able to choose a worthy replacement.
