House Speaker Ryan calls for astonishing ‘block’ after FBI’s Comey absolves Hillary of wrong-doing

House Speaker Paul Ryan made a remarkable statement on Tuesday when he called for the director of national intelligence to “block” Hillary Clinton from accessing classified information.

Appearing on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” the same day FBI Director James Comey announced that he was not recommending charges be brought against the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee for her “extremely careless” handling of classified information, Ryan told host Megyn Kelly the decision “defies explanation” and that there should be a consequence for Clinton’s actions.

“I think the DNI, the director of national intelligence, should block her access to classified information, given how recklessly she handled this during the presidential campaign,” he said.

Ryan was highly critical of Comey, who said “no reasonable prosecutor” would bring charges against the former secretary of state… despite there being “evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information.”

“No one should be above the law,” the Wisconsin Republican said. “But based upon the director’s own statement, it appears damage is being done to the rule of law. Declining to prosecute Secretary Clinton for recklessly mishandling and transmitting national security information will set a terrible precedent.”

Saying “people have been convicted for far less,” the speaker told Kelly the House will hold hearings to look into the FBI’s decision to not recommend criminal charges for Clinton, adding that the FBI “should give us all of their findings.”
