New name on ‘VP short list’ reportedly ‘en route’ to meet with Donald Trump

MSNBC reported Friday that yet another person is under consideration as presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s running mate.

The person “in play” is Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Pence, who previously was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, is reportedly en route for a private meeting with Trump.

Pence’s name was bandied around as a possible presidential candidate in both 2008 and 2012.

Two months ago, Pence gave something of a left-handed endorsement of Sen. Ted Cruz for president. While he endorsed the Texas Republican, he spent the majority of his remarks praising Donald Trump.

Although Trump may consider Pence a serious contender, he doesn’t necessarily enjoy the support of Trump fans.

At least one foresaw a Trump-Pence ticket battling a Clinton-Warren team come November.

Other names that are reportedly on Trump’s short list are New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
