Concealed carrier stops active shooter at nightclub–bet you won’t hear this on the nightly news

Two weeks to the day — almost to the hour — after a radicalized Muslim gunman shot and killed 49 people in an Orlando nightclub, a gunman opened fire at a South Carolina nightclub.

But the second incident isn’t getting much play in the media… likely because of a concealed carry permit holder.

Early Sunday, Jody Ray Thompson pulled out a gun during an argument at the Playoffz nightclub in Lyman, South Carolina, and fired into a crowd, hitting three people, Fox affiliate WHNS-TV reported.

But he was prevented from inflicting further damage when a concealed carry permit holder pulled his weapon and shot Thompson in self defense.

“His rounds struck three victims, and almost struck a fourth victim, who in self-defense, pulled his own weapon and fired, striking Thompson in the leg,” Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Kevin Bobo said.

And while the unidentified concealed carrier won’t be facing any charges, Thompson was charged with four counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to WHNS_TV.

The National Rifle Association, always first to come under fire in the press after a mass shooting, took to Twitter to denounce the media for not covering the story more thoroughly.

Looking past an influx of liberal trolls, here are some reactions to the NRA post from Twitter:
