Kelly McGillis, who starred in the 1980s hit movie “Top Gun” alongside Tom Cruise, was assaulted and injured by a home intruder on June 17, and now she’s taking action to protect herself in the future.

“Upon entering the house I notice a pair of girls pink sandals and a black larger pair,” the actress wrote in a since-deleted post on Facebook.

At first she thought her daughter was home so she called out for her.

“[But then] a stranger, a woman, came barreling down the hallway and began yelling at me,” she wrote. “I asked her who she is and why she was in my house and she said ‘you know why you’ve been stalking me in Twitter.’ Not true.”

Because she keeps firearms and ammunition in her North Carolina home, McGillis was afraid the intruder had possibly gotten a hold of one, so she ran out of the house and flagged down a motorist who called 911.

“She ran out after me and began punching and scratching my (sic) trying to grab the phone out of my hand. I began screaming as loud as I could, hoping someone somewhere might hear me,” she wrote.

The Good Samaritan motorist told 911: “A woman just pulled me over. She said that someone has just broken into her house.”

The 58-year-old actress screamed “help me!” while the driver spoke to dispatchers.

The burglar, later identified as 38-year-old Laurence Marie Dorn, was arrested later by Henderson County police.

Dorn brought her young daughter with her for the home invasion, according to McGillis.

“Who I feel heartache for is the little girl who was with her. Mental illness takes many hostages. I don’t know her name… but I would like to asked (sic) that you pray for her and her mother, she wrote.

In a second post the actress told fans how she will be protecting herself in the future.

“I have decided to get a conceal and carry permit. And you can be sure I will be setting the alarm from here on out,” she said.
