As news unfolded on Britain’s historic vote to leave the European Union, comments while the votes were being tallied came from an unexpected source.

Lindsay Lohan weighed in on social media, live-tweeting remarks from the state of British currency to praise for those who were choosing to remain in the EU. In the end, voters in Britain chose to leave the European Union and Prime Minister David Cameron resigned.

The 29 year-old actress sparked reactions from social media users who questioned whether she was serious or making fun of the constitutional debate.  “Unlike OBAMA’s recent setback,” she responded in a tweet, “I have not been hacked.”

All of Lohan’s tweets about the referendum were deleted, however.

But the comments abounded, as even politicians had responded using lines from Lohan’s movie, “Mean Girls.”

Some Twitter users found Lohan’s tweets entertaining, and others questioned the newsworthiness of the actress’ commentary.
