The FBI’s 2013 investigation into Islamic terrorist Omar Mateen was reportedly terminated because investigators perceived that his co-workers held anti-Islamic opinions of the Orlando mass murderer.
Profiling of Muslims because they are Muslim is now prohibited.
That’s what it’s come down to after nearly eight years of the Obama administration answering the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) Islamophobia dog whistle.
Fox News Channel’s chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge reported that FBI Director James Comey revealed this information during a closed door meeting with reporters Monday afternoon.
“Director Comey confirmed to reporters this morning that there was a full FBI investigation of Omar Mateen in 2013,” she reported. “It was 10 months in length, and it was opened after he told his coworkers that he had family connections to Al Qaeda, that he was a member of a Shi’a terrorism organization and that he hoped law enforcement would raid his home and assault his wife so that he could then retaliate and martyr himself.”
Herridge reported that during the 10-month period Mateen was the subject of an FBI investigation, “he was on a watch list, and if he attempted to buy a firearm during that period the FBI would have been flagged to that purchase.”
The agency eventually closed its investigation of Mateen.
“At the end of 10 months the investigation was closed with no further action. They took Mateen’s statements he was trying to taunt his coworkers because he thought he was being marginalized because of his Muslim faith.”
Since the beginning of the Obama administration, policies have been put in place to neuter the FBI’s ability to investigate possible Islamic terrorists, suggesting that national security has taken a back seat to political correctness.
“The fact is religion has been expunged from counter-terrorism training,” Sebastian Gorka, a counter-terrorism specialist, told The Washington Free Beacon.
“The FBI can’t talk about Islam and they can’t talk about jihad.”
And the administration’s policy of downplaying Islamic links to terrorism in FBI investigations could not only have resulted in the Orlando massacre, but also the Boston Marathon bombing by the Tsarnaev brothers.
“Again, the FBI has been aware of a future terrorist’s escalating religious radicalization and did nothing about it because bureau policies prohibited them from doing so,” counter-terrorism specialist Patrick S. Poole said.
Had the FBI’s investigation not been hamstrung, 49 lives may not have been lost in Sunday’s early morning hours.
