A Florida man got a lot of attention for a Craigslist ad he placed for his son’s SUV, stating that he had to sell it after catching him and his friends “smokin’ dope” in it.

Now Allan Gieger Jr., the Jacksonville man who placed the ad, is being called something of a hero.

“I have my son’s truck for sale that I bought for him as his first car,” the ad begins. “He thinks it’s cool to drive around with his friends, smokin’ dope and acting all thug and especially not showing me and my wife the respect that we deserve.”

He posted a copy of his ad to his Facebook page.

“I posted it one night, woke up the next morning and seen a few shares, didn’t really think a lot of it,” Gieger told News 4 Jacksonville. “And the next morning, I woke up, which was this morning, and I had over 60 messages.”

And it was shared more than 1,500 times.

The post also generated lots of comments — all of them good.

Kim Nations wrote, “This is priceless !!! They need to learn respect I don’t blame You one bit!!!”

And Lisa Williams simply said, “Yes go daddy.”

Jody Kibler said of Gieger’s son, “If u going to be stupid u better be tuff.”

Jonathan Rine gave Gieger props. “Good for you Allan. Kids nowadays have no respect for all the thing that they have or are blessed with. We never had these things. I’m glad to see your putting your foot down. As a father myself I would do the same. Keep up the good work.”

The ad also generated attention on Twitter:

A few days later Gieger thanked everyone for their support.
