Former Army Ranger Kris Paronto, who was one of the defenders of the American diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya, and wrote of that experience in “13 Hours,” said that those who laid down their lives on September 11, 2012, represent Memorial Day.
“It’s not only what happened in Benghazi, but it’s also what other service members and contractors have done and sacrificed their lives for,” he told Fox News Channel’s Clayton Morris. “It’s for honor and courage and the freedoms that we enjoy.”
Then Paronto moved on to those 13 hours in Benghazi.
“I think that was exemplified by Ty [Woods] and Glen [Doherty], and also by Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith, that they were willing to lay down their lives for our freedoms.”
It’s “those sacrifices that are given on a daily basis overseas” that allow Americans to enjoy Memorial Day with “a beer and have a barbecue,” Paronto said.
He said that he hopes former Secretary of State is haunted by that day in Benghazi for the rest of her career, if for no other reason, because she repeatedly lied to family members of the victims.
“I didn’t get political until I started to heard those words come out of her mouth,” he told Morris.
