Things have not been easy for actor Johnny Depp lately.
The Hollywood superstar lost his 81 year-old mother, Betty Sue Palmer, after a long illness on May 20. Just three days later, his wife Amber Heard filed for divorce, TMZ reported.
Citing irreconcilable differences, Heard, 30, filed the divorce petition on Monday and asked for spousal support, according to the court records.
Depp, 52, and Heard married in February 2015. The couple, who have no children, made headlines last year when charges were filed for illegally bringing their dogs into Australia. They filmed a video apology in April, the last time they were publicly seen together, TMZ reported.
There was no prenuptial agreement between the two and it is not known who will keep the dogs.
Depp, whose new movie “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” opens in theaters Friday, filed his response through his lawyer, asking the judge to reject Heard’s claim for spousal support, according to TMZ.
