Donald Trump supporters are smarter than the media lets on.

About 44 percent of Trump supporters on average have college degrees, according to statistician Nate Silver. Compare that to the national average of about 29 percent of adults having degrees, and it puts Trump voters well-ahead in terms of education.

Trump voters also have a higher median income than Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton’s supporters.

For Trump supporters, their median income ranges between $70,000 to $72,000 a year, according to Silver, which is far higher than the national average of $56,000. Clinton supporters earn a median income of roughly $61,000 a year, more than $10,000 less than Trump voters.

With poor voters, Clinton is well ahead of Trump. For instance, only 12 percent of Trump voters have an income less than $30,000 a year.

Meanwhile, about 20 percent of Clinton voters have an income less than $30,000 a year.
