Of course, he didn’t mean anything nasty by it!

A Florida GOP chairman’s enthusiasm to defeat Hillary Clinton landed him in hot water.

The Florida Republican official found himself the target of criticism after joining the gender war ignited by Donald Trump’s “woman’s card” comment directed at Clinton.

Bob Sutton, chair of the Broward Republican Executive Committee, was forced to apologize Friday after an outrageous remark in a Washington Post story on the contentious gender politics and sexism debate, the Miami Herald reported.

Sutton weighed in on how easy it would be to defeat Democratic candidate Clinton in a debate.

“I think when Donald Trump debates Hillary Clinton she’s going to go down like Monica Lewinsky,” he told the Post.

The GOP chair came under fire for his comment which several members of the Broward County GOP Executive Committee said was offensive.

“In an effort to show my enthusiasm for defeating Hillary Clinton this November,” Sutton said in a statement,  “I made a statement that was both unnecessary and inappropriate. I sincerely apologize for anyone that I may have offended. I look forward to returning to talking about the issues facing our nation.”

With a possibility that this may be the first presidential election between a man and a woman, it seems the gender comments are just a preview of what’s to come.
