Parody? April Fools? No one can believe what Obama just said about Iran Deal

Despite all evidence to the contrary, President Obama praised the nuclear deal with Iran as a success on Friday leading many to ask if his comments were just an April Fool’s joke.

“Success of diplomacy?”

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz couldn’t resist the opportunity to mock Obama’s statement in a Twitter post captioned “POTUS observing April Fool’s Day.”

“This is a success of diplomacy that hopefully we’ll be able to copy in the future,” the president said in his speech at the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, D.C. “Thanks to this deal, we have seen real progress.”

Oblivious to the fact that Iran has continually violated U.N. sanctions, even taking American sailors into custody, Obama praised the deal as effective in deterring Iran’s nuclear aspirations — for about a year.

“Thanks to this deal, we have seen real progress,” he said. “If Iran were to cheat, the breakout time to build a nuclear weapon has gone from two to three months to about a year.”

A sound of collective face-palms could be heard across Twitter.

Many were still convinced (or hopeful) that the president’s words were part of an April Fool’s Day prank.
