Peters blasts Obama admin’s diluted genocide statement; ‘still romanticizes Islam’

Retired Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters blasted Secretary of State John Kerry’s belated, watered-down statement denouncing Islamic State militants for committing genocide against other religious groups.

Peters told Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer that after “the administration was shamed into” making the statement, it went on to include Shiite Muslims into the mix.

“By diluting the genocide, that means there is less pressure into taking in Christian refugees,” he said.

But the real problem, “the ugly one,” is that Kerry limited the atrocities to the Islamic State when other groups, such as al-Qaida, Hamas, al-Nustra Front, and “even to an extent the Muslim Brotherhood,” have been systematically destroying a 2,000-year-old religion in the Middle East.

“This administration still romanticizes Islam,” he said. “It still finds Christians somehow distasteful. It’s almost as if the administration feels Christians have no real right to be in the Middle East. And Christians were there a long time before Muslims were – six centuries.”

More than that, Peters felt that the time for mere words is over.

“I just believe it’s time for action,” he added. “I think this is something worth fighting for, but obviously the administration doesn’t.”

Kerry’s statement followed the House’s historic, unanimous vote Monday denouncing the terror group for committing genocide against Christians, Yazidis and other minorities.
