Kid Rock’s list of heroes makes you want to high-five the Conservative 5-time Grammy winner

When Detroit-based rocker Robert James Richie, better known as Kid Rock, was asked who he most looked up to, his answer may have surprised many of his fans.

The five-time Grammy award winner was posed the question during an interview with “Rolling Stone.” His list of heroes will make many conservatives want to stand up and salute.

“Jesus,” the 45-year-old Kid Rock said. “George Washington. And anybody that’s had the balls to go and fight for this country.”

“And hardworking people that come from not having a lot, that keep a strong family and pull themselves up from their bootstraps and make something of themselves in life, you know? Those are heroes to me.”

He also said he tries to treat everyone he meets with respect.

“I try to be cool with everybody. Even if it’s somebody where you don’t really appreciate what they do, like if it’s a band whose music you don’t like. I think I got all of that out of my system when I was young anyway. I walked around flipping everyone off, telling them to go f**k themselves.”

He distilled that rule down to four words.

“Don’t be a dick,” he said.

He also said he tries to choose his friends wisely.

“Also, don’t hang out with a**holes,” he told the publication. “If you surround yourself with good people, everything else is going to work itself out.”
