At his final campaign rally Monday before the Iowa caucus, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told his supporters to be on the lookout for any tomato throwers, and to “knock the crap out of” them.
“The security guys, we have wonderful security guys,” he told the Cedar Rapids, Iowa crowd. “They said, ‘Mr. Trump, there may be somebody with tomatoes in the audience.'”
And then he instructed his supporters what to do with any such protesters.
“So if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously,” he said. “I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise. I promise.”
He didn’t say whether he would do the time for them if they were convicted of battery — I suspect not.
Here’s a clip.
The real estate mogul’s fans loved it — others weren’t quite so sure.
