A Muslim woman’s refusal to condemn acts of terror led to a fiery debate Tuesday on Fox News’ “Hannity” program.
Mike Ghouse told Rich Lowry that he agreed with ACLU leader Rana Elmir‘s Washington Post op-ed. Elmir “emphatically refused” to condemn terrorism in the piece.
“Technically however, she is right,” Ghouse said. “Why should we accuse her , why should she apologize, for an act she did not commit and she did not support? But there is a thing called freedom of speech, and she has that right, and we have the right to say what we want to say. But terrorism must be condemned by one and all and I don’t know why she hesitated. She should have condemned unequivocally.”
Ghouse contended that terrorists like the Islamic State were distorting his religion for its own purposes but Brigitte Gabriel, founder of the American Congress For Truth and ACT! for America, said those terrorist groups were following Islam the way it was intended.
“ISIS is Islamic in its purist form,” she said. It’s called the Islamic State. It operates following exactly the commandments of Muhammad. ISIS is not doing anything that Muhammad himself did not do. Whether it is beheading, cutting off ears, cutting off tongues, killing traitors. Muhammad himself was a military leader. In the Islamic world he is considered Al-Insan al-Kamil, the perfect man. ISIS is following the Koran to the letter.
