CNN anchor John Berman reported Sunday that there was no evidence to support former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s claim that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump rhetoric was used as a recruiting tool bY Islamic State militants.
Then he discounted it as, apparently, not newsworthy.
Clinton made the claim during Saturday’s Democratic presidential debate.
“We also need to make sure that the really discriminatory messages that Trump is sending around the world don’t fall on receptive ears,” Clinton said.
“He is becoming ISIS’s best recruiter. They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists, so I want to explain why this is not in America’s interest to react with this kind of fear and respond to this sort of bigotry.”
The New York Times reported that there was no evidence to support Clinton’s claim.
PolitiFact reported the same, and tweeted:

After Berman played the clip of Clinton on CNN’s “Inside Politics,” he said that although fact-checkers couldn’t find proof of her claims, “we will leave that aside.” He then moved on to other topics that weren’t critical of the Democratic presidentiual front-runner. Here’s the clip from that segment of “Inside Politics,” via The Washington Free Beacon. People on social media called it the way they saw it.

But in the long run, will it all make any difference? Probably not. She has the White House, the Democratic National Committee and a full cadre of left-wing journalists ready to sweep it all under the rug. Just like Berman did Sunday.
