Things are getting ugly on the Dem side.

After Saturday’s Democratic presidential debate, Democratic National Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz responded to questions about a brouhaha over a data breach by a member of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ staff, and his denial of access to data.

The feisty Vermont senator appeared livid during the debate, after the DNC had denied him access to campaign data he should have been privileged to.

“What the DNC did, arbitrarily, without discussing it with us, is shut off our access to our own information, crippling our campaign,” he said.

Wasserman Schultz told Fox News Anchor Shannon Bream post-debate that everything was hunky-dory within the Democratic Party and everyone had kissed and made up.

She told Bream that Sanders “did the right thing” by firing the staffer who’d breached the database of party front-runner Hillary Clinton.

The dispute began when a Sanders staffer found he was able to breach data related to Clinton through the DNC due to a glitch within the system. When Sanders discovered this, he informed the party and fired the staffer.

The Democratic Party then denied Sanders access to his own database of supporters, so the Vermont senator fired off a lawsuit Friday to restore his access.

In addition, when Wasserman Schultz began spewing her venom at Sanders many of the Democrats rose up in revolt. Salon reported:

For the first time since the dawn of the Obama era, and arguably since the end of the Viet Nam War, progressive rose in mass protest of party elites. Petitions poured in to the DNC by the tens of thousands demanding that Sanders access to his data be restored. Shortly after midnight Saturday morning, the DNC caved to the pressure, albeit so gracelessly as to ensure ongoing recriminations.

 

Joe Concha said in his column on Saturday:

And it’s not just the Huffington Post calling for DWS’s outster, asMoveOn.org actually has a petition to have her removed (275,000+ signatures). Change.org’s petition has 31,000+ signatures, but that movement just started just under 24 hours ago. And the DNC’s latest FEC filings show the party has somehow lost $1.2 million in October alone and is now 2.2 million in debt.

Unpopular. Ineffective. In debt. That’s no way to go through life…

 

That, plus the lawsuit, apparently did the trick. Wasserman Schultz immediately lifted the sanctions after the filing of the lawsuit.

There’s been rancor between the Sanders and Clinton camps almost from the beginning, with Sanders claiming that the party is doing everything within its power to promote the former secretary of state to the detriment of the other candidates.

According to Wasserman Schultz, however, who is also a Florida congresswoman, everything is fine.

Without surprise, Wasserman Schultz also used the on-air opportunity to bash the Republican Party.

“Our candidates did all Americans proud by having a robust and substantive discussion about the issues that are important to move America forward,” She told Bream. “In stark contrast, by the way, to the cage match food fight that happens when the Republicans get together.”
