Rihanna calls Rachel Dolezal a hero, social media doesn’t hold back

Pop superstar Rihanna caused a commotion on social media this week for defending Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who allegedly masqueraded as black for years while she headed the Spokane, Wash. chapter of the NAACP.

In an interview with Vanity Fair this month, the 27-year-old singer praised Dolezal as a  “hero” who awakened people.

I think she was a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit. Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black? Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people’s perspective a bit and woke people up.

Twitter users weren’t too happy with that assessment.
