Ben Carson slams media, politicians for ‘manipulating’ black America; how he’s changing things

CarsonThe outrage being unleashed by Black Lives Matter thugs into American streets and culture is no accident, according to retired neurosurgeon and presidential contender Ben Carson.

Taking a jab at the Democratic Party’s pandering toward the black community, Carson told conservative talk show host Mike Gallagher on Tuesday that the political left in America has been “manipulating” black Americans for years into supporting their divisive brand of politics.

“American blacks over the course of this next year will begin to see that they’ve been manipulated, very, very largely,” Carson told Gallagher.

Carson laid the blame for the current level of racial division in America squarely at the feet of politicians and liberal media personalities who are trying to stir up anger for their own political gain.

“People are telling them what they are supposed to think, and what they are supposed to say,” Carson said.

But Carson also believes this monopoly of influence the left has in black America can’t last, saying he hopes his campaign is helping to change the way black America thinks about politics.

“I believe that is a dynamic that is in the process of changing,” he said. But he admitted there is still a long way to go.

Earlier in the interview Carson acknowledged that the media plays a pivotal role in shaping the opinions of certain demographics, saying they “take advantage of low-information individuals and people who won’t investigate things for themselves.”

And race relations isn’t the only case where liberal politics have stirred up division and anger, according to Carson. He told Gallagher that the next president will need to be a leader who truly believes in bringing back a sense of American identity and unity.

“One of the major things that is threatening our nation right now, is divisiveness, on all levels. Gender, race, income,” he said. “We need a commander in chief who understands that, and tries to promote our unity, not our divisions.”

In other words, America needs a leader that believes in the strength of a “United” States of America, not another community organizer focused on pandering to polarized minority groups.
