Wasserman Schultz’s attack on Rubio ‘truly insane’ – ‘she should RESIGN immediately,’ says O’Reilly

o-reilly-rubioFox News host Bill O’Reilly accused Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of engaging in “the biggest smear so far in the presidential campaign” and said she has “reached a new low in political attack discourse.”

The focus of her “vicious utterly false attack” was fellow Floridian and Republican presidential hopeful Sen. Marco Rubio, who chalked it all up to a desperation move by the Democrats.

Wasserman Schultz engaged in an email campaign directed against Rubio for holding a fundraiser at the Texas home of real estate developer Harlan Crow, who “has one of the largest collections of historical memorabilia in the world,” O’Reilly said.

Wasserman Schultz’s beef was that the collection includes items from the Third Reich and Adolf Hitler, and highlighted these in her attack on Rubio.

“It is astounding that the presence of these items that represent horror for millions of Jews the world over would not stop Mr. Rubio or anyone on his team in their tracks when planning this event,” Wasserman Schultz said on Tuesday. “There’s really no excuse for such a gross act of disrespect. Mr. Rubio, who by the way, represents a sizable Jewish population in our home state of Florida, should cancel this tasteless fundraiser.”

O’Reilly noted that using the DNC chair‘s line of reasoning, political candidates would be unable to hold events at many of the country’s greatest museums.

“What is truly astounding is the woman’s ignorance,” he said.

“Her take is truly insane,” O’Reilly added. “By attacking Rubio using the Holocaust, the head of the DNC has shamed herself and her party. She should immediately resign. There comes a point when politics gets so dirty, it corrupts the nation.”

Rubio said that he’d witnessed Wasserman Schultz’s “political extremism” before and wasn’t surprised by her latest stunt.

“It is a despicable attack, and you know what the evidence of that is? Even liberal media outlets have criticized her for doing that,” Rubio said. “I think it also is indicative of the levels of desperation that have now entered the Democratic Party.”

Rubio noted that this move was probably prompted by Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s falling poll numbers.

“I think this is a further sign of that sort of desperation that they’re now facing, panic really.”
