It’s on! Fox News fires back at Trump ‘boycott’; fans take sides

The low-intensity warfare between Donald Trump and Fox News blew into the open again on Wednesday when the network disputed the billionaire’s story about why will no longer appear on Fox television.

Basically, Fox called Trump “stale” and “tiresome” — two words not normally associated with the man who energized Republican primary politics this year.

In a Twitter posting shortly after noon, Trump announced to the world that Fox had treated him “very unfairly” and that he would not be appearing on the network for “the foreseeable future.”

Trump didn’t give a reason for the posting, which came immediately after he tweeted a tribute to the late Yogi Berra. But Fox emailed a statement to media outlets Wednesday to say Trump’s nose was out of joint over a scheduling conflict. According the statement:

At 11:45 a.m. today, we canceled Donald Trump’s scheduled appearance on The O’Reilly Factor on Thursday, which resulted in Mr. Trump’s subsequent tweet about his ‘boycott’ of FOX News. The press predictably jumped to cover his tweet, creating yet another distraction from any real issues that Mr. Trump might be questioned about. When coverage doesn’t go his way, he engages in personal attacks on our anchors and hosts, which has grown stale and tiresome. He doesn’t seem to grasp that candidates telling journalists what to ask is not how the media works in this country.

In a statement released to the media after the Fox salvo, a Trump spokesman said Trump stood by his statement about “unfair” treatment.

“As a candidate for president of the United States and the definitive front runner in every poll, both nationally and state wide, including the just released poll in the state of Florida, Mr. Trump expects to be treated fairly. All you have to do is look at the tremendous ratings last night from the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where Mr. Trump was the guest, or the ratings from both debates, to fully understand the facts.”

Social media users were split on the latest twist between the two giants of contemporary American Republican politics — with some arguing Trump’s candidacy is actually a creation of Fox..

Since neither Trump nor Fox is going to be leaving the stage any time soon, they’re going to be adapting to each other for “the foreseeable future.” It’s going to be interesting.   Trump’s had it with Fox News, vows not to do any more shows on the network
