Trump slaps down question from CNN: Who’s more ‘beloved,’ me or Megyn Kelly?

megyn-donaldRepublican presidential hopeful Donald Trump called in to CNN Sunday morning to discuss his campaign, and continue his assault against his GOP rivals, conservative pundits and especially Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

He concluded that he’s much more “beloved” than Kelly.

“She was very angry because I bested her with a question that was a very unfair question,” he told CNN’s Jake Tapper.

When Tapper brought up the “blood pouring out of her whatever” comment he’d made to CNN’s Don Lemon, Trump asked, “Do you think I’d make a stupid statement like that?”

When he said only a deviant would put a sexual interpretation to his comment, Tapper pointed out that, “among that list of ‘deviants’ would be Erick Erickson, Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham, Carly Fiorina … ”

“Carly Fiorina, yeah, OK, give me a break,” Trump replied.

Tapper noted that when Trump made what many would consider to be outrageous statements in the past directed at illegal immigrants and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., his poll numbers have climbed.

But he wondered if he’d gone too far in taking on Kelly.

Tapper asked if Trump had misfired “in going after Megyn Kelly, who is beloved by conservatives, who is beloved by Republican voters.”

“When you say ‘beloved,’ I’m going to say this,” Trump answered. “On social media, I’m the one that’s beloved.”
