Early on Father’s Day, CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller posted on social media several excerpts from an upcoming essay by President Obama on the joys of fatherhood.
(The essay will be published in the next issue of More magazine.)
Here’s a couple of Knoller’s posts from Twitter:
In an essay in @MoreMag, Pres Obama discusses fatherhood in the WH and says “the highlight of my day” is having dinner with his family.

“Those moments where I can just be Dad—even if it’s “Daaaaaaad”—well, there’s nothing better,” says @POTUS of time with his daughters.

And while Knoller regales us with inspirational thoughts from Obama on fatherhood, one fact remains — the president is spending Father’s Day alone.
On a sunny Palm Springs golf course.
The same place he spent Valentine’s Day — while the family remained in Washington. This time around, first lady Michelle Obama and the children are traveling back to the United States from Italy.

Twitchy.com noted that of the excerpts Knoller shared, he left out the one where Obama said the women who surround him — his family — were his “sanctuary.”
Considering how much time Obama spends on the links, some may dispute just what he truly sees as his sanctuary.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter to Knoller’s series of tweets:
@NancyMcG91 @markknoller I don’t think there’s a golf course in Venice.

@markknoller Interesting he and Michelle choose for the family to be apart on Father’s Day.

@markknoller Wow, he plays a lot of golf for a husband and a father, let alone president.

@markknoller @MoreMag Fatherhood means so much to him, he put fundraisers and golf over his girls.

@markknoller @MoreMag Must be a big user of Skype.

@markknoller @MoreMag Seems that most presidential families are very, very close. Certainly true of the Bush family.

@markknoller @LibertyBell1000 Wouldn’t want to let something trivial like the murders of three cops & church massacre spoil a round of golf.

@markknoller Isn’t there a drought in California? How are the golf courses playable? Seems like a waste of water.
— elizabeth (@UMfangirl) June 20, 2015
@markknoller Then I guess every day is Father’s Day in the White House…

@bat211 @markknoller what makes this day different from all other golfing Sundays?
