Public school principal defends McKinney cop on PRIVATE time; STILL loses his position

A South Florida high school principal was summarily removed from his position for an online comment defending the actions of the McKinney, Texas, police officer who drew his weapon on teenagers at a pool party before forcibly subduing a bikini-clad girl in a video that is making national news.

“He did nothing wrong. He was afraid for his life,” North Miami Senior High School Principal Alberto Iber replied in response to a Miami Herald story, according to NBC Miami. “I commend him for his actions.”

Although Iber apparently didn’t mention his position as a principal in the comment, someone else did:

“Alberto Iber – as a principal at a school which is 99 percent minority (mostly black), and ranked near the bottom in national and state rankings (U.S. News & World Report rankings), such a comment reveals to me that you’re a serious part of the problem.”

Miami-Dade School officials removed Iber from his position Wednesday, but have not yet named a successor.

Iber has been assigned to administrative duties, NBC reported.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools employees are held to a higher standard, and by School Board policy, are required to conduct themselves, both personally and professionally, in a manner that represents the school district’s core values,” the statement said, according to the station.

A higher standard of what? Obedience to PC thinking? Apparently, the school district’s “core values” don’t include freedom of speech.

But it’s a public school district. About the only place more ignorant of the Constitution is a university campus.

When news of Iber’s treatment by the school district hit Facebook, one person commented:

And so it begins.. there you go folks. the beginning of Orwell’s “1984” prophesy.. Even though your bosses do not pay you at home while sipping a beer and watching Lester Holt (he is my fav) at 6:30 pm while checking you FB news feed, , you can be fired for speaking freely about current events.. I now encourage everyone to change their names to fake names on facebook so you can say what you want in your own home without fear of reprisal from your employer. I hope this principal hires a real good lawyer that will cost the tax payers a lot of money.

Are we losing our First Amendment freedom of speech rights for the sake of political correctness? Sure looks that way.
