Network will cut Clint Eastwood’s award show joke about Caitlyn Jenner

Some people really can’t take a joke.

Spike TV announced that it will delete a crack by legendary actor/director Clint Eastwood about the Olympic athlete formerly known as Bruce Jenner during its airing of the Spike TV Guys’ Choice 2015 Awards.

While introducing actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Eastwood made a reference to Johnson’s former career as a professional wrestler.

He likened Johnson to other former athletes-turned-actors, such as “Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody…,” according to an eyewitness, as reported by Hollywood Life.

According to the same source, Eastwood’s comments were met with groans instead of laughter. Eastwood said he figured the joke wouldn’t go over when he presented it to the award show’s producer.

Jenner, of course, announced in a Vanity Fair cover shot and accompanying article that he’s a transgender and is changing his name to Caitlyn Jenner.

Eastwood isn’t the first to throw jokes Jenner’s way. Famed Rapper Snoop Dogg referred to him as a “science project.”

The Guys’ Choice Awards was taped June 6, and will air June 18 on Spike TV.

Given the groans Eastwood received and Spike TV’s decision to cut the joke, the meaning of “Guys’ Choice” appears to have changed in the last couple of years.
