Delta buys pizza for entire plane of passengers delayed by bad weather

Passengers on several diverted Delta flights Tuesday were pleasantly surprised when a travel problem turned into a pizza party instead.

Planes bound for Atlanta had to be redirected to Knoxville, Tenn., when inclement weather over Delta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport hub interfered with flight schedules.

What makes a few hour delay of your night flight better? Free pizza! Thanks @delta #MLItoATL #pizza

Passenger Khoury Ashooh was flying home with his wife and their 4-year-old daughter on a 2 p.m. flight from Philadelphia, according to The Daily Mail.

“We circled in the air for a while then the captain said we were diverting to Knoxville because of storms over the airport in Atlanta,” he told DailyMail.com.

Stuck on the tarmac, passengers in the plane saw a baggage cart pull up filled with Pizza Hut pizzas. Ashooh was able to snap some pictures of the cart and the pizza party that followed.

He and his fellow passengers eventually made it to Atlanta at 7 p.m., three hours late.
