Borders on embarrassing — Marie Harf joins Jane Fonda love fest

That CNN host Wolf Blitzer was awash in praise of “Hanoi Jane” is understandable, after all he’s a member of the media. But for an Obama administration official to be gushing over Jane Fonda on national TV like a schoolgirl borders on embarrassing.

Not that State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf is any stranger to being compared to a schoolgirl.

In a live shot Saturday evening at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, Blitzer was joined on each arm by Fonda and Harf, The Daily Caller Reported.

“Nothing better than Jane Fonda,” the CNN host said of the 1960s anti-war activist who was photographed on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft battery while visiting the communist country during the Vietnam War.

It took Fonda more than 42 years to finally admit that the decision was “a huge, huge mistake,” although she still called the trip an “incredible experience.”

“Can you believe I’m here with Jane Fonda and Marie Harf, acting spokeswoman of the State Department?! How cool is that?” Blitzer added.

Not to be outdone, Harf also poured it on as if she were in the presence of royalty.

“I was looking forward to meeting Jane Fonda, so this was a dream come true,” Harf said. “We’ve already done selfies in the car.”

And in case you had any doubts about Blitzer’s political leanings, Fonda outed him  on national TV.

“He’s smart. He’s cute,” she said. “He’s progressive.”
