The mayor of Paris accused Fox News of lying about ‘no-go zones’; she should ask this reporter

An Israeli TV correspondent for Israel’s Channel 10 news was harassed by “a group of four or five men” in Paris last month simply because she was a Jew.

It didn’t happen in one of the City of Lights’ Muslim enclaves, often described as “no-go zones” for non-Muslims. It happened outside Paris’ Gare du Nord train station, and although there were plenty of onlookers — not a single one came to her aid.

Although the incident happened a month ago, Miri Michaeli only released it Thursday on her Facebook page, in response to questions about anti-Semitism in Europe.

Michaeli was about to deliver an interim report on the Germanwings crash last month before proceeding to the crash site at the French Alps. She had just departed from the train from London and chose the station to file her report.

“What you see here is only the beginning,” Michaeli explained. “The man whose face you don’t see in the video identifies Hebrew on the microphone, passes the information to his friends and starts to harass. What happened afterward was much more stressful [as] they surrounded me, four or five men, and began to curse me, the word ‘Jew’ repeated over again.”

Even weeks later, the incident left the reporter visibly shaken.

“My hands are shaking three weeks later when I remember the things they said,” Michaeli recalled. “I was standing in the street not bothering anyone, and I got vigorously cursed (along with aggressive hand motions) — and threatened.”

When no one offered her help, she helped herself — in the only way she knew how.

“When I felt threatened I ran away (Yes, that’s the right word) to the train station, there were soldiers,” she recalled. “Then they left me.”

And what was it that prompted the harassment?

“Disturbed in central Paris just because I held the microphone in Hebrew lettering on it,” she posted.

Twitter offered Michaeli the support she was denied on the streets of Paris.

And finally one person offered this observation, recalling when the mayor of Paris threatened to file a lawsuit against Fox News for referring to the city’s Muslim sections as “no-go zones”:
