Pentagon orders ‘may I kiss you?’ training at a whopping $2,222 an hour

The U.S. Air Force is paying Mike Domitrz $2,222 an hour to teach airmen when it’s OK to kiss on a date.

Domitrz, a speaker who has published books on relationships and survivors of sexual assault, will present three sessions titled “May I Kiss You?” to airmen, according to a report today in The Washington Free Beacon.

In a contract awarded by Dyess Air Force Base, outside Abilene, Tex., the Air Force will pay Domritz’s company, the Data Safe Project, $10,000 for three 60 to 90 minute sessions — approximately $2,222.22 per hour if all three sessions run the full 90 minutes.

Matt Namey, a spokesman for the company, said Domitrz earns roughly $325,000 per year from military contracts at 50 installations.

In the sessions, military members are taught how to ask before engaging in intimacy with their partners, how to intervene if they see alcohol used to facilitate a sexual assault, and how to support a survivor who confides in them about an assault.

In a video the company provided of a training session at 29 Palms Marine base, Domitrz said, “The date is going so well you want to give your partner a kiss. How do you know when it’s the right time to make your move?”

After an exchange with a Marine on stage, the audience erupted in unison, “Go for it!”

The Pentagon reported a 50 percent increase in reports of sexual assaults in the military between 2012 and 2013, according to a New York Times article.  The “May I Kiss You?” training is part of a list of steps the Defense Department has taken to deal with the problem.

The Air Force said, “There are no other known contractors able to provide this caliber of a presentation impacting our target audience in such a positive way,” the Free Beacon reported.

“If we fail to provide this much needed insightful education opportunity, then our efforts in educating Airmen about individual situational awareness and watching out for one another is extremely hindered,” the Air Force said. “By not providing this education, we risk the potential to negatively impact our Airmen and subsequently the mission.”

Domitrz said, “I’m honored to be part of the military’s effort to reduce sexual assault by providing interactive skills-based training for those serving our country.”

At $2,222 an hour, it’s quite an honor.
