‘House of Cards’ meets ‘Game of Thrones’: Anticipation builds for new Bible series

NBC is premiering a news series that looks into what happened after Christ’s crucifixion.

The series, titled “A.D. The Bible Continues,” premiers Easter Sunday and its executive producers, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, appeared on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” on Monday to discuss the project.

“It’s kind of ‘House of Cards’ meets ‘Game of Thrones,’ it’s the political intrigue but huge action all wrapped up in the Bible,” Burnett said.

“This nation was built on two things really: free enterprise and the Bible,” he added.

Downey added that people are excited for the series, which focuses mainly on the events described in the Bible’s Acts of the Apostles.

“People are hungry for hope, they’re hungry for story, they’re hungry for connection,” she said. “I think they’re hungry for God.”

The 12-week series is set to debut 9 p.m. Sunday.
