Woman sent to psych ward for claiming Obama follows her on Twitter – he does, and she sues!

A Long Island woman held in a mental ward for eight days after claiming she was being followed by President Obama is suing New York City and the hospital that held her because she really was being followed by the president – on Twitter.

According to the New York Daily News, Kam Brock’s week-and-a-day stay in Harlem Hospital’s mental ward came after Brock’s car was impounded Sept. 12 when she was suspected of driving while high on marijuana.

When she went to the station house the next day to retrieve her 2003 BMW 325Ci, she got “emotional” with the cops, was handcuffed and taken to the hospital, according to the Daily News.

“Next thing you know, the police held onto me, the doctor stuck me with a needle and I was knocked out,” Brock told the Daily News. “I woke up to them taking off my underwear and then went out again. I woke up the next day in a hospital robe.”

That’s when she made the mistake of telling doctors the president is one of her Twitter followers.

“I told (the doctor) Obama follows me on Twitter to show her the type of person I am. I’m a good person, a positive person. Obama follows positive people!” Brock said.

Brock is one of about 640,000 people worldwide @BarackObama follows, the Daily News reported.

But the doctors were positive Brock was nuts and held her for the next eight days, forcing her to attend group therapy and injecting her with sedatives and giving her lorazepam and lithium.

When she was finally let go, she wasn’t given a reason, but she was given a “master treatment plan” that states:

“Objective: Patient will verbalize the importance of education for employment and will state that Obama is not following her on Twitter.”

But he is. (Or at least he was. With the story going international, the White House might be rethinking the president’s social media buddies.)

Brock’s suit seeks unspecified damages, but will definitely include the $13,637.10 bill she racked up in the hospital.

Pretty crazy, all around.
