‘Kill the Jews’: Drunk, angry mob storms synagogue

Anti-Semitism again reared its ugly head in Europe over the weekend when a group of drunken rabble rousers mobbed a London synagogue, shouting “Kill the Jews! Kill the Jews!”

The scene unfolded after the Sabbath in the morning hours Sunday, when worshippers at the Ahavas Torah synagogue were besieged by the mob forcing them to use chairs to protect themselves as best they could, Fox News reported.

“After what happened in Paris, you are beginning to get British Jews asking, ‘Will I be safe going to synagogue or going to a Jewish shop?” said Lord Jonathan Sacks, the former chief rabbi of Britain. “‘Will my children be safe in a Jewish school?’”

A member of a local Jewish patrol that is designed to counter anti-Semitic violence arrived on the scene shortly after it began.

“I came down and there was a huge group of people, men and women, trying to force their way into the synagogue,” Meir Taub said.

“The window had already been smashed. Teenagers were shouting abuse. It was blatantly anti-Semitic, they came and attacked a synagogue.”

According to Scotland Yard, six people, including two women, were arrested in connection to the attack.

“The disturbance began when a group of drunk males, believed to have walked to the area from a house party nearby, tried to gain access to the synagogue,” a Scotland Yard spokesperson said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s message to European Jews that they may need to migrate to Israel to be truly safe is starting to carry more and more weight.
