CNN’s Cuomo called out for scolding LAPD over homeless shooting

Before all the facts were confirmed, veteran CNN journalist Chris Cuomo fired off some tweets Monday morning implying police wrongdoing or negligence in the shooting of a homeless man that has been widely viewed in a viral Internet video.

“#LAPDShooting i say it comes down to facts, because it always doe:. what did cops suspect, why taze, taze effect, and if victim got gun???” the CNN anchor tweeted.

That tweet raised eyebrows and caused others to engage Cuomo is the propriety of his statements.

That’s when your humble correspondent engaged with Mr. Cumo, and things got a little heated.

Conservative pundit Dana Loesch also weighed in.

Things get said in the heat of the moment when emotions are high. But reporters like Cuomo, who present themselves as journalists reporting the facts of a case, should be more careful.

In the end, Cuomo acknowledged the need to err on the side of caution until all the facts of a case are presented.

I respect that. Viewers should, too.
