NY police challenge snowball fight video, claim ‘clever mischief’ made cop look bad

Things are not always what they appear to be.

That’s what New Rochelle, N.Y. police said about about a video that received extensive coverage — including BizPac Review — that appeared to show a police officer pulling his gun on kids involved in a snowball fight.

But the video was deceptively edited, police say.

“There was no snowball fight,” New Rochelle Deputy Police Commissioner Anthony Murphy told the New York Daily News.

“There was no snowball fight,” New Rochelle Deputy Police Commissioner Anthony Murphy told the New York Daily News.

Murphy called the video a piece of “clever mischief.”

He told the News police were responding to an emergency call of a teenager pulling a gun on someone in the area.

“We dispatched several cars to the area. Police officers got out of their cars and one of the individuals bent down, adjusted something in his waistband and ran,” he told the News.

One officer ran after the suspect while another stayed behind with the teens who didn’t run.

“The group was compliant,” Murphy said. “The other cop is in foot pursuit of the suspect that had the gun. The suspect runs into an apartment house and into an unknown apartment.”

They did not catch the suspect but the video portrays the situation in a very different way.

“This group of guys was having a snowball fight and now a cop has a gun on them,” a woman recording the video said.

“The video looks terrible, but it’s completely out of context,” a high-ranking police source told the News. “It’s a completely different incident than it appears from that snippet. There’s clearly a lot of misunderstanding. The record of the 911 call will by itself illustrate what was going on.”

The source told the News the department cannot release the call for fear that the caller could be identified by voice.

HAHAHA. Oh, I’m sorry they’re serious. Funny, did the gun toting teenager have a name? And is he still at large? Was he secretly the Easter Bunny?

darn, Obama’s kids can’t have fun out side anymore? It was just a gun flashing innocent game.
