One world leader cut short his vacation golf time for an emergency, but it wasn’t Obama

The golfing president was swinging again, and this time, he dragged someone else down with him.

As Malaysia experiences some of its worst flooding in decades, forcing more than 100,000 people from their homes, its prime minister was photographed golfing with President Obama in Hawaii during the first family’s vacation, according to BBC.

After the photos were made public amid national outrage, Prime Minister Najib Razzak cut his vacation short and headed back to his deluged country.

“Every day when I was there, I received the latest report on the flood situation,” Razzak said at a press conference Saturday, calling his Obama outing “golf diplomacy.” “As it became more serious, I decided to return to the country as soon as possible.”

None of this inappropriate golfing should surprise Americans.

Razzak was golfing with a man who hit the links the same day reporter James Foley was beheaded by Islamic State terrorists.

Other presidential sightings on the green: during the Ferguson riots, shortly after the Obamacare website’s faulty launch and, most recently, after two officers were assassinated in New York City.

No wonder Razzak sees hitting the links with Obama as diplomacy. After all, if he wanted to get ahold of the president for something important, the golf course is the place to do it.
