Mom calls into C-SPAN to tell her sons to quit fighting

Partisan pundits – and brothers – Dallas and Brad Woodhouse got a surprise reminder Tuesday that not everyone likes to hear them arguing.

Mom, for one, is sick of it.

Making a regular co-appearance on C-SPAN, the bickering brothers were surprised when host Steve Scully took a call from “Joy,” in Raleigh, N.C.

“Hey, somebody from down South,” said Dallas Woodhouse, North Carolina state president of the conservative group Americans for Prosperity.

“You’re right I’m from down South,” the caller replied. “And I am your mother.”

Joy’s message was clear: The brothers would have to put their differences on hold for the holidays, or there’d be precious little joy in the Woodhouse household.

“I disagree that all families are like ours. I don’t know many families that are fighting at Thanksgiving,” she said. “I’m very glad that this Thanksgiving, you two were supposed to go to your in-laws. I’m hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas. I would really like a peaceful Christmas. And I love you both.”

Brad Woodhouse, the elder brother and a honcho with the Democratic National Committee, might argue with his brother – but not with his mother.

“I love you, Mom,” he said.

It’s not the first time Joy Woodhouse has spoken publicly about the brothers CSPAN gig. In a 2009 interview with the New York Times, she said she can’t understand how the same house produced such different Woodhouses.

“I rocked them in the same rocker,” she said.

Too bad she got one of them so wrong.
