Watch: Gowdy’s brutal cross-examination tears apart immigration activist’s ‘racism’ argument

An immigration rights activist got a little too comfortable accusing Republicans of being racists in front of a House committee this week, before the sharpest cross-examiner in the House got a chance at her.

And Trey Gowdy went to work.

In five minutes of questioning Tuesday that was as informative as it was brutal, the South Carolina Republican and former prosecutor raked Marielena Hincapie, the executive director of the National Immigration Law Center, over the coals for telling a Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee that GOP opposition to President Obama’s executive action on immigration was based partly on race.

He also took apart the administration’s talking points on the executive action, cast doubt on the Senate-passed immigration bill so popular among the mainstream media, and generally made one of the nation’s top immigration-reform spokeswomen look like a tongue-tied hack.

Check it out. It’s five minutes well worth it.
