Friday dump: ‘Obama changes course, authorizes another year of war in Afghanistan’

President Obama‘s May promise that this will be the last year of combat in Afghanistan has gone the way of most of his other pledges — by the wayside.

Instead, the president recently decided to expand the U.S. mission in Afghanistan in 2015, The New York Tomes reported.

The change allows the military to continue fighting the Taliban and other militants for at least another year — a major shift from Obama’s earlier declaration, several administration, military and congressional officials told The Times.

In May, the president said the 9,800 U.S. troops remaining in Afghanistan would be limited to training the Afghan military.

Many on Twitter chimed in with their thoughts on this latest Obama flip flop.
