Video: Bill Clinton says Obama’s hesitation on executive amnesty hurt Dems in midterms

Unlike the rest of the country that was paying attention to polls leading up to the election, former President Bill Clinton said he was surprised by the beating the Democrats took in the midterms.

Just to prove how out of touch he is with his fellow Americans, the former commander in chief said he believes the results may have been more favorable to Democrats if President Obama granted amnesty to illegal immigrants.

While he may be correct in his assertion that the lack of an executive order may have kept some Hispanics away from the voting booth, he is forgetting, as Democrats often do, about the majority of Americans.

According to exit polls conducted by Kellyanne Conway’s The Polling Company a whopping 74 percent of voters said, “President Obama should work with Congress rather than around Congress on immigration.”

During the interview with Politico’s  Mike Allen, at a party celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the opening of the his presidential library in Little Rock, Ark., Clinton said he thought the midterms would be closer.

“If you look at the exit polls, you can see what happened,” Clinton said.

He said he believed the small loss of Hispanic votes Democrats experienced may have been due to Obama’s failure to issue an executive order on amnesty.

“It was a tough call for him because had he done so a lot of others would have lost by even more,” Clinton added. “What that shows you is the people who were against us felt more strongly than the people who were for us. The people who were for us just in all the din couldn’t hear what was actually a fairly coherent economic message coming out.”

Clinton also said that Obama should not give in to being a “lame duck” and that he ought to turn his attention to the budget process and push through his agenda in his final two years in office.

He added that Obama should push immigration reform and, above all, “have fun,” which is true because all those golf games must be stressful.
