A Florida mom is in a public tangle with TV star Bryan Cranston over an children’s action figure toy of Cranston’s meth-dealing character from “Breaking Bad.”
But she’s losing on the popular front.
In a petition launched on the website change.org, Fort Myers resident Susan Schrivjer asked Toys R Us to remove the Walter White action figure from its shelves, arguing that the fictional chemistry teacher’s product was too dangerous in the real world to put around children, even in toy form.
“Toys R Us is well known around the world for their vast selection of toys for children of all ages,” the petition states. “However their decision to sell a Breaking Bad doll, complete with a detachable sack of cash and a bag of meth, alongside children’s toys is a dangerous deviation from their family friendly values.”
The petition had reached 6,000 signatures Tuesday morning.
In a response posted on Twitter, series Star Bryan Cranston, who played the chemistry-teacher-turned-drug-kingpin Walter White, didn’t seem too threatened.
“Florida mom petitions against Toys ‘R Us over Breaking Bad action figures.” I’m so mad, I’m burning my Florida Mom action figure in protest

The number of retweets and favorites easily beats Schrivjer’s signatures so far.
@BryanCranston wow there is actual breaking bad action figures? Need to see that! — Nicolette burge (@Nicki241984) October 20, 2014
@BryanCranston Where can I get them before they’re banned?? — Andrew Moody (@VoguishFiction) October 20, 2014
That doesn’t mean everyone on Twitter supported the toys, though. Not by a long shot.
Hey Twitter @ToysRUs Is Selling #BreakingBad Action Figures Complete With Cash! Glorifying Drug Dealing & Drug Use! You R Morally Bankrupt! — #Repealnista ~ Swt (@Swthghheel) October 20, 2014
But many pointed out meth-dealing chemistry teachers probably aren’t most kids ideas of ideal toys anyway. The Walter White action figures might be on the shelves near Barbie, but the market is decidedly different.
@caroljsroth With an aisle full of Transformers and Star Wars figures adjacent, would a kid even break stride for a Breaking Bad figure? — Ben Erickson (@erickson1138) October 21, 2014
Those freaking out about Toys R Us selling “Breaking Bad” Action Figures do not understand the adult collector market http://t.co/bkRzAZCj2q

Schrivier and her supporters might have underestimated how strongly “Breaking Bad” fans feel about the series, though.
@BryanCranston She should tread lightly.
