If he’s not careful, people are going to start thinking that Karl Rove doesn’t like President Obama all that much.

Having been dubbed the “latte salute,” the president set tongues wagging on Tuesday when he offered a half-hearted salute with the same hand that was holding a coffee cup when he departed the Marine One helicopter in New York.

But few could match the trash-talking coming from Rove during an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity.”

“Are we surprised?” Rove asked host Sean Hannity on Tuesday’s show. “After all, we’ve got a chai-swilling, golf-playing, basketball trash-talking, leading-from-behind, I-got-no-strategy, Osama-bin-Laden-is-dead, GM-is-alive, community-organizing commander in chief.”

“How disrespectful was that?” he asked.

The former Bush senior advisor also set the record straight on the use of the term “latte salute.”

“It’s not a latte salute, it’s a chai salute because he drinks chai,” he said. “I mean, please.”

Chai is a blend of black tea, honey, spices, and milk.
