This is Democrats’ idea of job creation.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz paid a visit to one of the most employee-friendly stores in her district on Wednesday – to urge customers not to shop there!
“I want people to know that this Hobby Lobby is here and they should vote with their purses and their pocketbooks, and women should not shop here,” Wasserman Schultz told the Sun-Sentinel outside a Hobby Lobby franchise in Davie, Fla., the chain’s first store in South Florida.
With a welcome like that – the chain’s first store in South Florida opened in April – you can see why businesses should love rabid Dems like Wasserman Schultz.
During the interview, Wasserman Schultz beat the same dishonest drum Democrats have been pounding since the Supreme Court’s landmark Burwell v. Hobby Lobby decision in June. The decision held that privately owned companies could refuse to offer insurance coverage for birth control methods that violate their owners’ core religious beliefs – it had nothing to do with what birth control women can use.
“No boss should have the right to dictate an employee’s health decisions because [they] don’t belong in the bedrooms, doctor’s offices or pharmacies of their employees,” Wasserman Schultz said.
That’s exactly wrong, and Wasserman Schultz and her ilk know it. The decision didn’t give companies control over their employees’ health-care decisions. The case wasn’t even about contraception, because Hobby Lobby’s plans covered 16 out of 20 methods of contraception. What it objected to was birth control that causes abortions – and that’s a matter of religious doctrine, not Wasserman Schultz’s doctrinaire politics.
The forms the company objects to remain for sale virtually everywhere, and could easily be purchased by any woman — or man — who wants it. So if anyone wants companies to be joining couples behind behind room doors, it’s pathetic, dishonest Democrats like Wasserman Schultz.
Wasserman Schultz is an old hand at trying to use politics as a club to bully religious believers she disagrees with. Like other Dems, she’s tried to force Chick-fil-A, another privately owned company, to change its religious beliefs by public boycotts because of its stance against same-sex marriage.
The liberal fascists failed miserably with their efforts to boycott Chick-fil-A, and if the best argument they’ve got going for them is the likes of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, they’re going to take a pounding on Hobby Lobby too.
As one of Wasserman Schultz’s constituents told the Sun-Sentinel, “I doubt seriously I would give her recommendations any consideration.”
