Greta hits back! Van Susteren’s sharp response to Glenn Beck’s ‘nutty’ slap at Fox

Glenn Beck’s complaint that the media is not sufficiently covering his humanitarian trip to the border with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., drew a sharp response from Fox’s Greta Van Susteren.

The host of “On the Record” wrote in her Gretawire blog Friday, that she was perplexed at Beck’s illogical gripe on Blaze TV Friday, that Fox News was not following his well-publicized trip to provide food and toys to illegal immigrant children, because Cruz was “not their pick for President of the United States.”

“If you like Ted Cruz, this [trip] gives Ted Cruz the ammunition to be tough on immigration,” Beck said on his program. “Because once you have mercy established, you have credibility to talk about justice.”

“If Jeb Bush was going down [to the border], I guarantee you that Fox would be covering it and NBC would have cameras there,” the former Fox employee added.

But Van Susteren fired back. “Has he not heard?” she said. “Flight 17 went down with 298 dead…Israel started a ground offensive. Fox has been busy covering the two major news events dominating world headlines.

“Where did Glenn Beck come up with this?” she asked. “This is nutty.”

From Gretawire blog:

Glenn is really off the charts on this accusation about us not covering the border and…one other thing, there is no Fox ‘pick’ for President. No one has sent me a memo and I have been here 12 1/2 years.

This may be Glenn’s mind having fun with itself. (You might want to ask him if he ever got a memo when he was here at Fox.)

Frankly, I think the real reason behind Glenn Beck’s slap at Fox is because we are not following HIM to the border.

As an aside…Glenn IS right…the border issue is very important. It is a humanitarian crisis, too. It is very difficult for the media to report on 3 breaking news crises at once: Israel, Flight 17 and the border. But he is wrong to suggest that we have not paid lots and lots of attention to the border in recent days or that our coverage is in any way related to Sen. Cruz.
