Far left rips NY Times for criticizing Chelsea Clinton’s $75,000 speaking fees

The newspaper’s own revelations that Chelsea Clinton is scooping up $75,000 a speech in speaking fees are almost too much for some even at the liberal-loving New York Times.

But any MSM criticism of the Clintons is way too much for the professional left.

Times columnist Maureen Dowd devoted her Sunday column to pretending to question exactly what it is about Chelsea and the “rapacious, gaping maw of Clinton Inc.” that makes her worth so much money.

(Put aside for a minute the fact that “rapacious” is an unfortunate adjective for any female Clinton.)

With her 1 percenter mother under fire for disingenuously calling herself “dead broke” when she left the White House, why would Chelsea want to open herself up to criticism that she is gobbling whopping paychecks not commensurate with her skills, experience or role in life?

(And put aside that “gobbling” is an unfortunate verb to use for any female Clinton.)

Dowd’s question answers itself.

The Clintons, like the Obamas, will never need to worry about criticism from the mainstream media. And Chelsea’s not getting paid $75,000 to share her expertise on eradicating water-borne disease any more than Monica Lewinsky was getting invited to the Oval Office to talk education policy.

Chelsea’s $75,000-a-pop speeches are just down payments on Clinton face time if they ever get back to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and The Times and everyone else knows it.

What’s interesting  is how taboo even token criticism of leading Democrats is among the prog faithful. Liberal website Media Matters  – the George Soros-funded group – has already posted a criticism of Dowd’s column that griped that Dowd has been too tough on the former first lady over the years (doubtless with the blessing of the former first couple.)

A war between Maureen Dowd and Media Matters?

Like Kissinger said of the Iran-Iraq war: “I hope they both lose.”
