Former vice presidential candidate and conservative icon Sarah Palin used her Facebook page to weigh in on the prisoner swap of one American Army sergeant for five terrorist leaders with a chilling description:
“You blew it again, Barack Obama, by negotiating away any leverage against the bad guys as these bad guys – Osama Bin Laden‘s partners in evil crime – joyfully celebrate their ‘win’ in the deal you sealed.”
“Osama bin Laden’s partners” is about as succinct a description of these men as you could ask for, and not one you’re going to find on the pages of the New York Times or on the air at MSNBC.
If these guys are more than two handshakes away from the man responsible for the 9/11 attacks it’s for operational security, not philosophical differences.
And who did we trade them for? In the Facebook post, Palin nailed that one, too.

No, Mr. President, a soldier expressing horrid anti-American beliefs – even boldly putting them in writing and unabashedly firing off his messages (http://nypost.com/2014/05/31/the-bizarre-tale-of-americas-last-known-pow/) while in uniform, just three days before he left his unit on foot – is not “honorable service.” Unless that is your standard.
This deal is getting more rancid by the day, with each discovery about the circumstances of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s capture in Afghanistan and with every statement by Obama or one of his minions about how necessary it was.
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel in particular is continuing his grotesquely political performance in office – as despicable as it was predictable from his confirmation hearings. He celebrated the Bergdahl deal with a surprise trip to the Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan, where the rank-and-file couldn’t be bothered to applaud at the news that a soldier strongly suspected of desertion had been freed at such a price.
As ever, Palin cuts right to the heart of the matter: Five men, Osama bin Ladin’s partners in evil, are all but free today because of Obama and Hagel.
They really did “blow it again.”
